I'm Singin' In the Rain!

The last couple of days it has been raining like crazy here in Las Vegas and we are LOVIN' it! We knew from our local weatherman that rain was forecasted for every day this week so we have been super excited! I took the kiddos to the store yesterday to buy everyone umbrellas and you would have thought they were in a candy store! Umbrellas are not really a necessity here because you only need one a couple times a year, and even then, it's only for a day. So none of the kids have ever had one. They had so much fun picking out their umbrellas! Then last night we took a family walk in the rain and the kids were in heaven walking down the street holding their umbrellas. It was so cute! Matt and I, on the other hand, preferred to walk umbrella-less. It's amazing that even though I have not lived in Oregon for 14 years, rain on my face is still second nature to me, and it felt SOOOOO good!
Yesterday when it first started raining, we were in the car and Jacob noticed how, for just a couple seconds, the rain ran in little miniature rivers down the windshield. I wasn't thinking anything of it (seen it a million times, of course) and I hear Jacob from the backseat say in an awed voice, "Wow! Isn't that cool how the water just drips down the windshild like that and then beads into a big drop of water at the bottom?" Uh.........I had to think about it for a second and realize what he was talking about. I love to see the world through children's eyes, especially when it's something new to them that I take for granted!
The other upside to all this rain is that it means it's snowing in the mountain! So we are looking forward to some sledding this weekend! Yay!
