My Third Grader

Can I take a minute and brag about Tori? She is such an amazing little girls and is constantly an example to me. Sometimes she has profound spiritual insights and other times she is my buddy and fun to hang out with. But she is also an incredible student. She loves to learn and do school work and soaks up anything and everything the teacher throws at her. A couple of weeks ago, only a week and a half before the last day of school, her teacher gave the class the assignment of doing a report on an endangered animal. Tori was so excited to do the research and the day she came home with a big, empty poster, she was ecstatic about reporting on humpback whales. She kept repeating, "I LOVE doing research!" I'm not sure where she acquired such an enthusiasm for learning, but I sure hope she hangs onto it throughout her life. She has always loved school, but I think much of her enthusiasm this year comes from her incredible teacher, Mrs. Parr. I've never seen a teacher put so much love and thought into her students - she is truly a very special teacher and I feel so blessed that Tori had her this year.

A couple of months ago, Tori's class did CRT testing. It is some type of national testing that all 3rd through 5th graders do each year. They test reading and math and then hand out trophies to the kids in the top 5 percent of their grade. Tori was in the top for both reading and math and was honored with this trophy at a recent assembly.

Oh my gosh, Tori is getting so tall and beautiful and you are so awesome for starting a blog, yay! Also Congrats to Tori on the CRT testing! That was always stressful for my students and can be really hard for some kids...so you are totally entitled to bragging rights! Ok, OH MY GOSH on the house! It's totally awesome and rockin' with that peach color and everything (hehe). I am so excited for you guys! We miss you guys and we can't wait to see you next month!!!
