Valley of Fire

The kids had the day off for Nevada Day yesterday so Matt's sister, Becca, and I took the kids to Valley of Fire. It is a state park about an hour north of Las Vegas and is a lot of fun and very beautiful. The kids love to climb the rocks as high as they can and climb through the holes in the rocks. On the way into the park, we met a little friend (pictured below) and saw some big-horned sheep. We also found a cute little lizard in the park. We consider it a successful trip when we find wildlife - it is by far the kids' favorite part of any adventure.

This is our "little" furry friend we found along the way. Click on the picture to enlarge it, if you dare! There is a nickel underneath it to give you an idea of the size.
Wow! It's huge!

You can even see the size of it from a distance! Becca was brave to get close enough to photograph it! The kids did, too, but I stayed in the comfort of the car!
