One Sunday this summer when my kiddos were all ready for church, I was struck at how adorable they all looked. So we had to do a quick picture and here it is.....
I feel so lame that I've been AWOL all summer when it comes to my blog. I honestly have no excuse except for the fact that I was busy entertaining my rugrats. But since we had no major vacation plans, that's not even a sufficient excuse. We had a fun summer hanging out here in LV. Mainly we swam, swam, and swam some more. Needless to say, the kids were pretty sick of swimming by mid-July. At the end of the summer we took a quick trip to Utah and crammed in what we could: Lagoon, Seven Peaks, Park City rides, and touring BYU and watching the football team practice. It was short but tons of fun.
The summer started out with some swimming lessons for the three younger kids. Of course Tori and Jacob could already swim, but I wanted them to learn some different strokes and learn to swim correctly. It turns out that Tori is quite the little swimmer. Her teachers kept commenting to me that she is so natural in the water and picked up the different strokes so easily. We've talked about continuing her on in swimming, but we'll see. Later in the summer she played in a basketball league so she was busy with that. Tori had two major obsessions this summer: America's Got Talent and the Warriors books. She couldn't get enough of either of them.
At the young age of three, Jaxon learned to swim early on in the summer! He realized during his first swim of the summer that he could doggie paddle. And then he ditched his floties in mid-July and refused to wear them again. He enjoyed the independence and speed of swimming without them so I just had to watch him like a hawk whenever we were near a pool. He also has no fear when it comes to water and loved jumping off diving boards and CLIFFS! We had Cole for a good chunk of the summer and the other kids enjoyed every second they could spend with him. Tori got him hooked on the Warriors books so most of his free time was spent reading. Cole was able to attend scout camp and had a great time there as well. Jacob was a little reading machine this summer, too. He still has that reading spark and I'm so happy to see him finally enjoying what he reads! Jacob bought himself Super Mario Smash Bros. Brawl (or something like that) and spent lots of time perfecting his fighting skills.
So now we are back in school and back to our crazy schedules. Cole is back in NY and started school today, Tori is in middle school now (scary!), and Jacob is playing soccer and loving that his BFF is in his class. Life is blissful and busy and I LOVE it!
