Here is another post that I've been meaning to get to for quite some time now. Wow, life must be boring for us lately since I really have nothing else new and exciting to post. Anyhoo...I'd like to take a proud mom moment and brag about Jacob's genius abilities. I have always been very impressed with how mechanical and creative Jacob's brain is. From a very (and I mean VERY) young age, he has loved to build with anything, and he has been able to figure out how things function and work. He loves to invent and create and will use legos, tinker toys, magnetix, train tracks, k'nex, etc. and the end product usually astounds me. Anyone who knows me will admit that I have not a single creative bone in my body. So when my 7 year old can create, invent, and build, I am truly amazed - and he's been doing that for years now. There are pieces to Jacob's building materials that I don't even know what they are, and he will figure out their function and then make something amazing with them. He will make hinges, gears, you name it. There have even been times when I haven't been able to fix something so I hand it over to Jake and in just a few seconds he has it figured out and fixed. I'm at the point where I just hand it over to him if I don't want the hassle of trying to figure it out.
At the end of this school year, Jacob's teacher gave each student an award that overall described something unique about their personality. Jake got the "Mad Scientist" award. Anyway, here are just a couple of pics of some of his projects. The pictures really don't do the inventions justice because you can't really see the details and workings of them. Oh, well. Enjoy!
Once again, Jacob makes this windmill look so simple but it's actually pretty complex!

He is one smart cookie! I love the projects. I can aprecitate their complexity because I have tried to follow instructions for some of those types of things before...without any luck.
